Zhang Yue Lu (Extended Lunar Deer)

Zhang Mansion is the fifth of the Seven Lunar Mansions of the Vermilion Bird of the South, associated with the Moon and personified as a plum-blossom deer. Its six stars form an arch resembling a drawn bow and correspond to the Vermilion Bird’s crop—a constellation traditionally believed to preside over ancestral temples, precious objects, and ceremonial garments. In Daoist cosmology, it is venerated as Zhang Yue Lu Star Lord. Astrological tradition holds that when the Zhang Mansion shines brightly, treasures flourish throughout the realm and rites and music prosper. As a symbol of auspiciousness, the deer—whose name sounds identical to the word for 'emolument'—makes Zhang Yue Lu Star Lord a focal point of devotion for those seeking both spiritual blessings and material prosperity, including wealth acquisition and fortune attraction.
