Yi Huo She (Wing Fiery Serpent)

Yi Mansion is the sixth of the Seven Mansions of the Vermilion Bird of the South and belongs to the Fire element, manifesting as a crimson-scaled fiery serpent. Its twenty-two stars form the shape of a pair of outstretched wings—the wings of the Vermilion Bird—and govern musical harmony and the reception of distant guests. In Daoism, this mansion is venerated as Lord Star Yi Huo She. Astrological tradition holds that when the stars of Yi Mansion shine brightly, ritual music flourishes and the four quarters submit in reverence. In folk practice, devotees worship Lord Star Yi Huo She to ensure smooth, harmonious musical performance and abundant, auspicious gatherings of guests; musicians and performers especially revere him.
