Guiyou Tai Sui General Kang Zhi

Guiyou Tai Sui General Kang Zhi is one of the Sixty Jiazi Tai Sui deities who preside annually over human affairs; he assumes office during Guiyou years—such as 1993 and 2053—and oversees all fortunes and misfortunes affecting humanity that year. As the Rooster is the zodiac sign associated with Guiyou, those born in the Year of the Rooster enter their benming nian (natal year), directly 'sitting upon' Tai Sui, while those born in the Year of the Rabbit experience 'clashing' with Tai Sui. According to folk custom, both groups should visit temples to install and venerate Tai Sui, offering sincere worship to seek the Tai Sui Star Lord’s protection and harmonisation. The concept of Tai Sui originates from the ancient stellar calendar based on Jupiter’s (Suixing) twelve-year orbital cycle; the saying ‘daring not to dig earth above Tai Sui’ reflects the deep-rooted reverence for Tai Sui as the supreme celestial sovereign governing each year. Devotees commonly visit Daoist temples on the 8th day of the 1st lunar month to worship Tai Sui, praying for disaster avoidance, longevity, and smooth passage through the year.
