Origin & Legend

Huoling Shengmu was a disciple of Duobao Daoren—the senior disciple of Tongtian Jiaozhu, patriarch of the Jiejiao sect—and resided at Jinguang Cave on Qiumingshan. When her disciple Hu Lei was slain by Hong Jin of the Zhou camp, she descended the mountain to avenge him, cultivating the spiritual radiance inherent in fire itself. Flames and golden auroras blazed above her head, while her golden-eyed camel—capable of traversing a thousand li in a single day—carried her into battle. She repeatedly defeated Hong Jin and Longji Gongzhu, and her participation in the Ten Thousand Immortals Array contributed directly to the deaths of Longji Gongzhu and her consort. Ultimately, she was struck down by Guangchengzi’s Fan Tian Yin (Heaven-Overturning Jade Seal). During the Investiture of the Gods, she was enfeoffed as the Fire Mansion Star. Her unwavering devotion to her disciple and her resolute acceptance of mortal peril embody the Jiejiao sect’s profound emphasis on loyalty and righteous sentiment.
