Origin & Legend

Guiling Shengmu was one of the Four Chief Disciples personally trained by Tongtian Jiaozhu, having originally been a primordial black turtle who cultivated to immortality. During the Battle of the Sword-Annihilating Array, she revealed her true turtle form within the formation and was gravely wounded by Guangchengzi’s Heaven-Overturning Seal. In the subsequent Ten-Thousand-Immortals Array, she fiercely engaged the assembled immortals of the Chan Sect. Later, she was subdued by Zhunti Daoren (a patriarch of the Western Religion) and handed over to his disciples for custody; while in captivity, she again assumed her original turtle form—only to be pierced by the Mosquito Immortal, who devoured her blood and flesh entirely. Her demise stands among the most harrowing fates suffered by any disciple of the Jie Sect. Her tragic arc powerfully underscores the inescapable nature of the Fengshen Tribulation, and her story remains one of the most renowned episodes illustrating the deep-seated enmity between the Jie Sect and the Western Religion.
