Origin & Legend

Qingxu Daode Zhenjun is one of the Twelve Golden Immortals of Kunlun Mountain and resides in the Ziyang Grotto on Qingfeng Mountain. He took Huang Tianhua—the son of the Martial Achiever King—to his mountain abode, raised him as his adoptive disciple, and imparted to him martial arts and esoteric techniques, bestowing upon him the Moye Treasure Sword and the Heart-Piercing Nails; Huang Tianhua later descended the mountain to achieve repeated military triumphs and was enfeoffed as the Righteous God of the Three Mountains. Qingxu Daode Zhenjun also rescued Yang Ren, whose eyes had been gouged out by King Zhou of Shang, reviving him with immortal elixirs that caused hands to sprout within his eye sockets—each palm bearing an eye capable of observing both the celestial realms above and the netherworld below—and conferred upon him the Five-Flame Seven-Bird Fan. All his disciples became key contributors to the campaign against the Shang dynasty, making Qingxu Daode Zhenjun a paragon within the Chanjiao Sect for his compassion toward loyal and upright ministers and his power to grant rebirth and renewal.
