Origin & Legend
Daoxing Tianzun is one of the Twelve Golden Immortals of Kunlun Mountain and resides at the Jade Chamber Grotto on Jinting Mountain. His disciples Han Dulong and Xue Ehu were ordered to deliver provisions to the Ten Utterly Devastating Arrays, where they bravely sacrificed their lives in the Array of the Trapped Immortals. Another disciple, Weituo Hufa, later joined the Western Religion after the Investiture of the Gods and became one of the prototypes for the Buddhist guardian deity Skanda (Weituo Bodhisattva). Though Daoxing Tianzun himself played relatively minor roles in major campaigns—such as the great battle against the Myriad Immortals Formation—his significance within the Investiture of the Gods cosmology lies in the extraordinary loyalty and martyrdom of his disciples, as well as Weituo’s eventual Buddhist apotheosis, collectively embodying the Chanjiao Sect’s ideal of self-sacrifice in defence of the Dao.
